P: Student research project
Each instructor will have to supervise and guide the students’ project, by giving instructions and by supporting their project with relevant bibliography to read (five to ten publications per topic). Students will work in group of three, forming five international groups. Each instructor will be responsible for one student’ project according to his field of expertise. In their project, teachers will have to design the sampling methodology and explain basic sampling design principles to their team. Students will have to work alone, sampling biodiversity in the field. Projects will involve sampling of birds, amphibians, reptiles, plants, butterflies, other invertebrates etc. A database will be produced summarizing field data on species and habitats. Teachers will show basic tools of data analysis and data presentation. They will also provide their students with relevant literature (bibliographic references, reports, books, publications). Students they will have to work on their own and they should present their project as 15 minute presentation (power point) to the rest of the class.
