Who can apply?

The SCB-Europe welcomes all undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as young scientists having recently accomplished their studies in disciplines relevant to Environmental Sciences (e.g. Biology, Environment, Zoology, Geography etc) but also from Social and Economic Sciences, given the multidisciplinary character of Conservation Biology.

A number of 15-18 students from different countries will be selected on a competitive basis. The Organizing Committee wishes the international character of the Greek Summer School, well-representing European countries (Eastern Europe, Russia and Turkey included).

Students will participate under their own responsibility and private health insurance. Students with health problems (epilepsy, heart problems, dangerous allergies etc) are requested to consider seriously their physical ability to participate in the mountaineering field session before applying.

Cost

Registration fee : 150€ *
The Greek Summer School offers you for free:

  1. Lectures: no tuition fee
  2. Field Sessions and Excursions: no transport and tuition fee
  3. Transport upon arrival and departure (Ioannina-Papingo-Ioannina)
  4. Welcome Dinner
  5. Accommodation (breakfast included)
  6. One-year online subscription to Conservation Biology Journal + Membership to SCB

 

The Greek Summer School does not cover:

  • Travel to Ioannina
  • Food/Drinks in Papingo
  • Medical insurance

Important Dates

  •     09 January 2012: Registration opens
