The Society for Conservation Biology (SCB) (http://www.conbio.org/) is a global organization of over 10 000 members. The Society's membership comprises a wide range of professionals interested in the conservation and study of biological diversity: scientists, resource managers, educators, government and private conservation workers, and students.

The European Section of the SCB (http://www.conbio.org/sections/europe/) is actively working in Europe to protect the habitats, species and ecosystems of the continent. The Section has an international board and working committees. The twelve members of the Board of Directors (BoD) represent 25 European countries.

The Communications Committee promotes and facilitates communication within and beyond SCB-Europe. It develops printed and electronic publications of the Section, and works with other committees to achieve outreach and marketing goals.

The ultimate goal of the Education Committee is to increase the level of conservation literacy in Europe at all levels. One of the main activities of the Committee is the organization of Summer Schools for students, such as the present Greek Summer School (SCB-GSS) and the Croatian Summer School for post graduate and PhD students - ISCB).

The Membership Committee is responsible for encouraging membership in the Society and the Section.

The Policy Committee develops relationships with political, scientific, and other organizations that further the mission of the Section. This includes the preparation of resolutions and statements of public advocacy.

If you think that nature conservation is a top priority for our society

and that scientific evidence is needed for the conservation of biodiversity,

then…get actively involved!
